Veni, Veni

Brad DeLong had this hymn that I used to sing in choir at Midnight:

Theotokos -  God's Mother

VENI, veni, Emmanuel,
 captivum solve Israel,
qui gemit in exsilio,
privatus Dei Filio.

Responsa
Gaude! Gaude! Emmanuel,
nascetur pro te Israel!

Which we sang as:

Oh, come, oh, come, Emmanuel,
and ransom captive Israel,
that mourns in lonely exile here,
until the Son of God appear.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
will come to thee, Oh, Israel!

and the literal trans is more like:

Come, come, Emmanuel
and free captive Israel,
which groans in exile,
deprived of the Son of God.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
is born for thee, Israel!

The music is there, also. I have it in  my head.
