Moral Blindness

The banks involved in a blatant money laundering scheme get a $1.9 billion fine, but our government will absolutely not charge any individual for the crimes they committed, even though it is quite clear who the guilty parties are.
British banking giant HSBC agreed to pay a record $1.92 billion settlement Tuesday after a broad investigation by U.S. federal and state authorities found the bank violated federal laws by laundering money from Mexican drug trafficking and processing banned transactions on behalf of Iran, Libya, Sudan and Burma.

If the Immoral can never be confronted and be known for what it is, then the Moral can never be confronted and known.

This is why we are as a society grossly immoral.
As individuals, we can be saints, and many of us are, but as groups, we are little more than participants in a Walpurgisnacht of corruption and degradation.
